Dal Rae - Restaurant Review

The Dal Rae is the Southern California restaurant where 1950s classics still reign. Lobster Thermidor, Pepper Steak, Chateaubriand, Prime Rib, Fresh Fish, Rack of Lamb, Steak Diane and Cherries Jubilee prepared tableside are among more than 100 items on a truly retro menu, complete with some of the city's best martinis.

The Cannery

Housed in an old canning building overlooking the Newport harbor, the Cannery is a historical landmark reminiscent of the days when Newport harbor became a hub of the fishing industry. Along with an extensive seafood selection, the menu features traditional steaks and chops, along with a sushi and raw bar. The Cannery has five different dining areas which offer stunning views, including a outdoor patio and an Asian dining room with a full Japanese menu.

The restaurant itself looks like a two story Eastern temple high ceilings and dazzling lighting fixtures, with lots of gold trim adorning columns and walls alike. Inside you’ll find a cozy respite from the bustling streets outside. The stunning dining room is eclectically adorned, mixing romantic French touches like dazzling chandeliers and long, dramatic curtains with statues of Hindu gods and lots of dripping candles. The menu offers contemporary American dishes inspired by classic Mediterranean cuisine such as Taboulé Couscous with Ahi Tuna or Crab Gorgonzola Risotto, which can be accompanied with a glass off the extensive wine list or their popular Red or White Sangria.
